Moon Musings - January
A new year sprawls before us once again! Everywhere we look, we see people embracing change. We see the familiar refrain about stopping destructive habits or halting self-limiting behaviors, and, let’s be clear, we support anything that leads us to our highest and most authentic selves.
However, while we sift through our lives to discern what to cease, we offer the gentle suggestion of also discerning what we can keep.
While admirable, the focus on self-improvement can take a negative slant, as if we were less than or diminished somehow this last year by something we perceive as shortcomings or failures, both big and small. We lovingly reject that. So, while we balance what we want to alter, let’s remember what we want to keep -
Keep the part of yourself that loves fiercely and with abandon.
Keep that part of yourself that catches your breath when you see a puppy waddling towards you with his tail wagging joyfully.
Keep that part of yourself that breathes in gratefully the first cold front of the fall, loving the change in the light and the promise of a new season.
Keep that part of yourself that dreams a deeper dream that you don’t articulate, but that lives in the deepest, most protected parts of yourself.
Keep the parts of yourself that get lost in a book and forgets to go to bed on time.
Keep the part of yourself that gets emotional when you see children performing in a school play or band concert.
Keep the parts of yourself that feel small, but assured, when you stand next to the ocean.
We support new goals, always. We simply want you to remember all of the parts of you that are already there, the parts of you that are fierce, are tender, are loving, are awed, are curious, and filled with gratitude.
And speaking of gratitude, we begin another year, grateful for your ongoing support, keeping our mission alive and intact, and fiercely moving forward with love.
